Part five of the largest crowd-investment in off-grid solar ever made. BBOXX are leading the off-grid solar industry with their innovative ‘energy as a service’ model. This loan will bring clean energy to more than 40,000 people and avoid 11,000 tons CO2 that would otherwise be emitted from fossil fuel light sources. The majority of the impact will happen in Rwanda but part of the solar home systems will also be deployed in Togo and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
How TRINE works
Step 1: Invest in a solar campaign
Start by choosing a campaign you like, each campaign is a bit different in terms of impact, location, size and risk. You decide how much to invest from €25 minimum to whatever is left to fully fund the campaign.
Step 2: Payment & account
Your money will be transferred into an E-Wallet, where it will be held until the campaign becomes fully funded. This wallet is managed by our payment provider, Lemonway.
Step 3: Funding successful
Once a campaign is fully funded your investment becomes part of a loan to our Solar Partner. If the campaign is not fully funded your money stays in your E-Wallet for you to withdraw or reinvest.
Step 4: Spreading solar energy
The solar products are sold and distributed by our Solar Partner. Customers have access to clean and affordable energy, up to 50% cheaper than current energy sources. They pay the Solar Partner for their electricity in continual micro-payments.
Step 5: Repayment of the Loan
If the Solar Partner manages to repay the loan you will receive your investment and interest in return, corresponding to how much you invested. You are repaid on an ongoing basis during the duration of the campaign.
Step 6: Reinvest or withdraw
Your repayments will go to your E-Wallet where you can choose to withdraw the funds or reinvest in another campaign.
