
4 Chalmers Ventures companies in the finals of Venture Cup Väst

Half of the companies and projects competing in the finals of Venture Cup Väst derives from Chalmers Ventures. And they are actually going head to head in two of the four categories. It’s Cetect versus Lazarus Therapeutics in ”Life Science and Technology” and TRINE versus Epishine in ”Environment and Energy”. Be there to support them at Elite Park Aveny, December 10th. Cetect is Evelina Wängberg and Joakim Olsson. Bioethanol is a liquid, non-fossil fuel that can replace or supplement petrol and diesel fuels. In the manufacturing process yeast is used, which is the limiting factor for ethanol production when the yeast is a living microorganism that is greatly influenced by external factors. Cetects enables the use of a yeast that is stronger and thus more resistant to the stress factors the yeast cells are exposed during the production of bioethanol.
Lazarus Therapeutics is Charlotte von Numers, Paola Jo and Robert Smolander. Lazarus Therapeutics develops the first self service medicine for severe herniated disc. The goal is for future patients to treat themselves in the comfort of their homes, thereby avoiding today’s month-long queuing to the operating table. The benefit of treatment also extends beyond the patient.
TRINE is Sam Manaberi, Andreas Lehner, Christian Genne, Christoffer Falsen and Hanna Lindquist. TRINE’s goal is to offer people all over Europe the opportunity to invest in sustainable solar power projects through their platform. The goal is that in five years have provided three million people access to clean electricity. They build long term relationships with solar entrepreneurs around the world.
Epishine is Jonas Karles and Emma Woxlin. Epishine provides semi-transparent organic solar cells printed on PET plastic, making the manufacturing cost up to ten times lower than today’s solar cells. The solar cells contain no metals, and energy payback time is only one week. The first market is glass facades where the solar cells reduces both heat radiation and generate locally generated electricity for the cooling system.
